Young women seek out advice from Dana Perino every day—at work, through friends, and on social media。 The story of her own quarter-life crisis, And the Good News Is… Lessons and Advice from the Bright Side, brought countless readers to her inbox looking for guidance。 Through her mentorship program, "Minute Mentoring," Dana quickly realized that quarter-life crises have begun following young women well into their thirties。 Many of them are distressed but conceal it with a brave face。 Unfortunately, too much of that can be—and is—exhausting。

To help address these challenges, EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY covers such topics as:

How to manage your relationships (colleagues, family, love)…

How to be your best self on the job…

How to gauge if you're on the right career path…

How to transition from junior staffer to boss lady…

I'm not a nonfiction reader and I really wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did。 She gives some great advice and sometimes it felt like she could read my mind。 I enjoyed the little stories about working in the white house。 The only thing I will say is that sometimes the writing was not great。 There were a few anecdotes I had to read a few times over before I understood what they were saying。 But overall good advice and a quick and easy motivational read! Although this book is written for young women in their twenties just starting out in their careers, I recommend it for women of all ages。 I think all women, no matter if they chose to be a career woman or not, will find life applications reading this book。 I’m in my thirties, have been in my career for over a decade, and was encouraged by Dana’s words。 It was nice to hear things I’m doing right, things I need to work on, and things I need to change。 I listened to the audiobook but plan on buying Although this book is written for young women in their twenties just starting out in their careers, I recommend it for women of all ages。 I think all women, no matter if they chose to be a career woman or not, will find life applications reading this book。 I’m in my thirties, have been in my career for over a decade, and was encouraged by Dana’s words。 It was nice to hear things I’m doing right, things I need to work on, and things I need to change。 I listened to the audiobook but plan on buying a hard copy to refer back to and read again。 。。。more

My dad gave me this since I was questioning things in my career。 There’s a lot of info in this book and I enjoyed it for the most part。 I felt like it jumped around a bit, but overall I liked it and definitely took some lessons from it。

My dad bought this book for me, and that feels fitting。 It’s a very “dad doesn’t understand what his 20 something year old daughter thinks about so a book like this might help her。” I didn’t hate it。 As a young woman about the enter the corporate world, I will take some of the advice with me。 But I also found myself scoffing at some of the passages in it。

good advice but kinda hard for me to apply since i am so young, it was hard for me to get over the number of stories told in this book but i am trying nonfiction

I'll preface by saying that I admire Dana Perino。 She always seems level-headed, gracious and kind。 I was pre-reading this book in hopes of it being a good motivator/mentorship book for my daughter in high-school。 While this book had some interesting and cute insights from Dana, and even some pretty decent advice, the problem with this book is that the audience is very specific。 This was written not so much for young women, like my daughter, but for career driven young women who are already star I'll preface by saying that I admire Dana Perino。 She always seems level-headed, gracious and kind。 I was pre-reading this book in hopes of it being a good motivator/mentorship book for my daughter in high-school。 While this book had some interesting and cute insights from Dana, and even some pretty decent advice, the problem with this book is that the audience is very specific。 This was written not so much for young women, like my daughter, but for career driven young women who are already started in their career path。 It's probably great for that group of women and maybe I'll pass it to my daughter in 6 or 7 years。 If you don't fit into that category I recommend skipping it entirely。 。。。more

Like another reviewer said, I found it kind of hard to finish reading towards the end of the book because the advice seemed pretty standard and it just ran on… Also, as a nurse, I’m not the odd one out in my field (mostly women, yeah?) and I don’t have an office job so I couldn’t entirely relate to all of the career advice。 I liked the book overall, though, and it was like having a mentor for a minute。 😉

I love Dana and as somebody who is early in my career, I found this book to be inspiring and just the reminder I needed。

I was gifted this by my mom upon graduation, so I had no prior knowledge of Dana Perino。I thought most of the information given was obvious, like don’t participate in workplace gossip, and dress professionally。 While I can see the usefulness, my parents taught me most of this, so overall nothing new or profound。I didn’t love that the basis for the advice was anecdotes about the White House, only because it doesn’t particularly inspire me or keep me interested。 Other than that, a quick read, good I was gifted this by my mom upon graduation, so I had no prior knowledge of Dana Perino。I thought most of the information given was obvious, like don’t participate in workplace gossip, and dress professionally。 While I can see the usefulness, my parents taught me most of this, so overall nothing new or profound。I didn’t love that the basis for the advice was anecdotes about the White House, only because it doesn’t particularly inspire me or keep me interested。 Other than that, a quick read, good for those in need of a little advice! 。。。more

Nothing in this book was close to advice that is more useful than what I already know。 Dana spends more time talking about her life than giving advice。 I also found that this book pertains to a very narrow demographic。 If you aren’t a women in the business world, this book hardly holds value for you。 It was less about advice for women in their “quarter life crisis” and just nonsense about how to move up in the business world and essentially be better than males because we aren’t already and need Nothing in this book was close to advice that is more useful than what I already know。 Dana spends more time talking about her life than giving advice。 I also found that this book pertains to a very narrow demographic。 If you aren’t a women in the business world, this book hardly holds value for you。 It was less about advice for women in their “quarter life crisis” and just nonsense about how to move up in the business world and essentially be better than males because we aren’t already and need to read a book first to know how to be more successful than them。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book! Well written and very insightful。The only thing I will say is that Justin Bieber's song Love Yourself is that it is not actually about self-love。 I recommend everyone read this book, especially the women。 I really enjoyed this book! This is almost like a female-oriented version of "Beyond Harvard"。 Dana has been on my family's TV for nearly my whole life, and yet I never questioned how she came to be where she was, as if the women I see on TV are just NPC's or something。 Like they're just talking heads who look pretty。 I was never sure if I could see them as role models or not, but now, after reading this, I realize what it took for Dana to talk in a panel with men。 All of the advice she gave was very digestible and easy to This is almost like a female-oriented version of "Beyond Harvard"。 Dana has been on my family's TV for nearly my whole life, and yet I never questioned how she came to be where she was, as if the women I see on TV are just NPC's or something。 Like they're just talking heads who look pretty。 I was never sure if I could see them as role models or not, but now, after reading this, I realize what it took for Dana to talk in a panel with men。 All of the advice she gave was very digestible and easy to read, and I found myself relating heavily to the thoughts that I didn't think she ever had。 This book is aimed at women a bit further in their career paths than me, however, it's still valuable for any young woman to read especially if they don't have positive female role models in their lives already。 For me, I found it funny that I heard my mom's voice in some of the advice Dana laid out, and I felt incredibly fortunate that I have someone like that in my life, however, it's useful to hear this kind of stuff from people currently in the professional field。 It feels intimidating to read self-help books because it just lays out how someone has already lived their lives successfully and although they say "don't compare yourself", the entire book is kind of just you comparing yourself to this already successful woman。 Overall, however, she listed a lot of helpful exercises that I'll actually do to feel more secure in my life as a freshman in college。 The advice didn't feel repetitive or something you can find off some Buzzfeed article except for some of the really basic sentences。 However, maybe I'm just annoyed because I'm reluctant to actually follow such "basic" advice even though there's a reason they're so well known。 Overall, I'll definitely re-read this when I graduate。 。。。more

Love Dana。 Bought for granddaughter, but wanted to read first。 I don’t need some of this advice at this stage of my career, but she’s spot on for anyone starting out。

Really great read。 Lots of practical advice that fits for any career path。 Reads like you're having a friendly conversation with Dana。 Every young woman with plans on a career should read this。 This is a book I'll definitely revisit, especially if/when I move on from my current job。 There's also no 'spin' or beliefs pushed here, it's just straight up practical, clear, friendly, witty, engaging authentic advice。 You won't be disappointed with this one。 Really great read。 Lots of practical advice that fits for any career path。 Reads like you're having a friendly conversation with Dana。 Every young woman with plans on a career should read this。 This is a book I'll definitely revisit, especially if/when I move on from my current job。 There's also no 'spin' or beliefs pushed here, it's just straight up practical, clear, friendly, witty, engaging authentic advice。 You won't be disappointed with this one。 。。。more

Great book for not only getting ahead in work but in life! I would definitely recommend this book!!!

This book has a lot of good advice for the career woman, especially those in management roles。 However there was good deal of time devoted to the author’s time working in the White House and that is a completely different type of work than most people will ever do。 While interesting, I couldn’t relate。 Worth the read, though。

I was gifted this book, and due to the title, I thought it would be appropriate for all young women。 The book itself is full of small tidbits of advice that Dana wishes she would have had when feeling at crossroads or full of overwhelm when deciding to make a next step in her career。 I did appreciate the small stories of President Bush sprinkled throughout, whom Dana credits a lot of knowledge and wisdom she gained while being Press Secretary。 However, I would only recommend this book to a young I was gifted this book, and due to the title, I thought it would be appropriate for all young women。 The book itself is full of small tidbits of advice that Dana wishes she would have had when feeling at crossroads or full of overwhelm when deciding to make a next step in her career。 I did appreciate the small stories of President Bush sprinkled throughout, whom Dana credits a lot of knowledge and wisdom she gained while being Press Secretary。 However, I would only recommend this book to a young woman who wants to climb the ladder in politics or business, or who is needing motivation in the workplace。 As a social worker, I felt as if I could not relate to much of the book。 The chapters read as fragmented journal entries to me, and the use of parenthesis was overdone- there were at least 2-3 on every page。 It made it hard to stay engaged as a reader through this small shift of language, as it was repetitive。 。。。more

Scattered mess! Perino jumps all over and repeats the same thought over and over and over again。 I read about half of the book and had no good, revelatory take-aways so put it down for good。

Jan Reatherford

I am not a fan of self help books but I would recommend this book to anyone in their 20s。 It has common sense advice for navigating through a career and life in general。 No instant answers but good solid advice for being able to look in the mirror every day and know you are doing ok。 Integrity and character may not provide instant gratification but it will serve you well in the long run。

Elizabeth StClair

Gifted this book by my mother。 Good advice for my younger self。 Glad to hear managing up is common!

I’m definitely out of the target audience for this one being a 30-something mother but Dana shares so much great advice that can still be applied to my life today。

Good news Good news to keep you going in the working world。 Very positive advise remains consistent throughout the book。 Relevant examples of real people in real circumstances goes a long way in communicating her message。 Great advice on being your best self in easy to read, interesting ways。 Enjoy。

Excellent career/ life advice。 Dana is one together person! You can be too。 So many ideas that she has bear repeating at any point in a woman’s career。 Highly recommend for all stages of working women。 You know, we all stand on the shoulders of those who went before。 Women rock…。

Gramps got this book for me as I start a new job in a few weeks。 I thought there was a lot of good practical advice for young professionals in the workplace。 Also, as is common with these types of books, a lot of fluff and repetition。

McKenna Schultz

This is a wonderful book for any young woman in the early stages of her career。 Dana Perino offers wonderful advice on how to start out strong in the workforce, and how to live intentionally and with a purpose。

Emma

There is some really great advice。 I got a bit overwhelmed but it did let me know that I could never work in such a fast paced environment like politics。
